Well i guess i have survived my first week back to work after three and a half weeks paternity leave.
I have been tired, and apparently as a side effect, my tolerance of bullshit has diminished. Unlike some people i don't really get cranky, or irritable when i get tired, i tend to call people on the bull. So if someone is making something up, i will call them on it. Which isn't really a good thing, because as i have learnt, some people have skin as thick as Saran wrap.
Anyways, Zachary seems to be getting close to being on a schedule, so sleeping should improve in the coming weeks.

Cleaning up your Debian/Ubuntu installation
As like many people running Debian or Ubuntu Linux installation, i tend to try out a lot of software. Since its easy to install, and remove ( if you don't like it ) . But what happens when you do this, you end up with a lot of orphan packages. Orphan packages are all those dependency libraries that get installed with a chosen software. ( Note this isn't limited to Linux. Windows installs files and doesn't necessarily remove them all upon uninstall ).
I saw this article that shows a quick and simple way of cleaning up said orphaned libraries. http://www.arsgeek.com/?p=708 . This article shows two simple ways of "cleaning up" your installation of files that aren't in use.

First day back
Well today was my first day back to work after the birth of Zachary.
I must honestly say, I would have preferred to stay home. Apart from the obvious reasons, spending time with my wife and son, it just seemed like I couldn't get my head above water today. Everything I tried to do, there was always something more. First was the emails, I have 1674 unread emails when I opened my computer this morning. Next was the never ending meetings that ensued. I have spent a total of 6 of 8 hours on the phone, or in meetings with various people in the organization.
I think the worst part about going back to work, is that I am now away from the house from 6:45 am to 6pm. In the life of a new parent, it means I may see my son for a total of about 1 hour awake....Extremely not interesting.
